Stop – Take a Breath – What the F**k Am I Doing?

Seriously…what am I doing? Will this creative plunge ever pay the bills, or is it just an epic passion project? Who knows, but, damn, it’s been fun!
From Nursing Burnout to Watercolour Warm Fuzzies
Leaving a steady paycheck to splash around in Adobe Illustrator has been a ride, to say the least. I've spent hours crafting designs I’m proud of, like my latest mini collection—two down, one to go before I pick the best of the best and hunt for a manufacturer. At least my kids like some of the prints (that’s gotta count for something, right?). And playing with watercolours? Total warm fuzzy vibes. There’s something about creating just for yourself, with no one to impress, that feels both freeing and a little… well, strange.
The Mentor Gap (and Finding Inspiration)
Let’s be real, it’d be amazing to have a mentor. My Adobe Illustrator course with Bonnie Christine taught me the ropes, and her story is crazy inspiring. Here she is, building a fabric empire from her corner of the Smoky Mountains, turning creativity into a lifestyle. Sounds like a dream! Her Flourish community has been a godsend for support, so I'm thinking it’s time to re-join, brush up on skills, and gain a bit more guidance.
To My Support Crew (You Know Who You Are!)
A huge thank you to everyone who’s been quietly cheering me on. Social media feedback has been modest at best, but I’ll take it—no news is good news, right? Soon enough, the proof will be in the pudding. My goal is a first release by mid-July next year, and by then, some of you will have watched this whole journey unfold—from burned-out nurse to (hopefully!) a thriving creative entrepreneur.
So, cheers to what’s next, and to those sticking around for this wild transformation. I can’t wait to share what comes next.
