Well, here I am, folks—retired from nursing and throwing myself headfirst into the world of creative design. Brave? Maybe. Terrifying? Absolutely! Let me tell you, this transition has been a wild ride.
Jumping ship into the unknown has felt like a leap off a cliff..., I mean, nursing gave me structure, a pay check, and a pretty solid sense of purpose. Designing? It’s a whole different ballgame. It’s exciting, yes, but it’s also messy, unpredictable, and has taken waaaay longer than I thought.
Patience Is a Virtue… That I Don't Have
I’m nearing the end of my second mini collection, and I couldn't be more excited! I’ll be sharing my designs (and hopefully a peek at the process) "not a quick one might I add" on my socials soon, so keep an eye out for that. There’s one more mini collection I plan to complete before I take the big, terrifying step of finding a manufacturer—excited and freaked out all at once, but hey, that’s how I roll.
Working from Home: Blessing or Cheat Code?
Let’s talk about working from home for a sec. Honestly, it feels like a cheat code compared to nursing. This is hands-down the best job I’ve ever had—it doesn’t even feel like work half the time, I'm learning the whole new world of business, my family might say I’m doing nothing all day (spoiler: I’m doing a lot), but going from non-stop patient care to creating art at my desk? Yeah, it’s a big change, and I’m here for it. might I add that for once in my life I've been able to schedule intentional exercise as part of my workday- (Broke but healthy and happy)
The Journey Continues
So, here I am—bravely (and a little impatiently) navigating this new chapter. It’s a process, and while I’m still working to turn this into something awesome, I’m enjoying the ride. Because if you’re not doing something that lights you up inside, what’s the point, right?
Stay tuned, because this journey is far from over. Who knows what’s next? But one thing’s for sure—I'm not looking back.
Thanks for hanging in there with me!
Meg.
